Changing Role and Key Skills to Be Acquired-Myasssignmenthelp.Com

What Is the My Changing Role and Key Skills to Be Acquired? I am working for a clothing fabricating organization, EthnicCharisma, managing in customized style pieces of clothing, basically for ladies. We have just two outlets in the Dubai and we provide food for the most part to the nearby purchasers including voyagers. At present a few voyagers purchase conventional scarves and pieces of clothing as trinkets for their families back at home. Anyway our emphasis isn't on trades. At present we are making moderate deal particularly during the winters. Our organization centers around blocks and cement based purpose of deals instead of online business. Additionally the preferences are changing and consequently rivalry from online exchanges is expanding turning into our dangers. UAE is one of the key material markets comprehensively and was worth USD13 billion of every 2011. The attire and footwear portions experienced moderate development contrasted with 2015. This is because of falling costs of oil and gold since 2014. The retailers are thinking of inventive proposals so as to remunerate the circumstance and keep up a positive development (Euro Monitor International, 2017). The weight is higher because of easing back economies, spending requirements and compensation cuts. So the key factor is creative methods of advertising and adjusting to changing westernized tastes and inclinations. Additionally the more the firm can broaden the better. In my organization where I chiefly care for the promoting and client relations, the emphasis is basically on customary women’s wear. They are directly mulling over enhancement into kids’ and men’s wear. Anyway I for one believe that as opposed to thinking about pieces of clothing, the endeavor could stream into pearls and adornments or embellishments like sacks and creator watches. The items ought to likewise coordinate the changing tastes and be weaved into progressively trendy light and close fit pieces of clothing rather than free and overwhelming work ethnic weavings. The main change driver would be the promoting division. Additionally an examination group may be required so as to complete some market overview to know the preferences and inclinations from potential customers’ criticisms. I likewise accept the company’s nearness in internet based life and online business is basic. Every one of these perspectives can help in improving the methods of advertising. All these would require legitimate preparing, crisp recruiting of youthful and specialized individuals. Abilities ought to be updated. Organization can enlist an expert style originator whenever required. So leader’s change related activity, change-related preparing and adjusted HR rehearses are the key change drivers (Whelan-Berry and Somerville, 2010). This will clearly negatively affect the cost trouble however the venture should pay off in long haul. A portion of the old staff may feel defenseless and in danger. The organization needs to make sense of certain methods of utilizing the elderly folks individuals too as opposed to burning through a lot of time preparing them. Different organizations may exploit this aggravation if the change isn't overseen well and endeavor to takeaway our piece of the pie. This is the primary danger. Keeping up consumers’ trust notwithstanding rising universal brands like H&M, Zara, Next and Matalan is a significant test yet the new systems should likewise carry more chances to take into account the worldwide market now (Euro Monitor International, 2017). This will be a period of proactive change which could be troublesome just as a helpful change process for us (Nadina, 2011). My job would maybe move from additionally conversing with all the more composing and less talking. Quite possibly I should create content for showcasing through online life. The site should be grown alluringly. I may need to engage in some statistical surveying before dispatch of new product offering for men and children. Likewise its will be critical to play as the linkage among clients and the architects and tailors. Before the finish of the module I hope to have the option to apply the hypotheses to rehearse. Truth be told I am as of now partner the hypothetical terms all the more usually pertinent to the business I know about. I additionally trust I will be progressively open minded and sure about managing purchasers. It is now and again imperative to think like the proprietors so as to perform better. One needs to anticipate the most noticeably terrible and work generally advantageous. Keeping a reinforcement plan is imperative to confront radical changes. I ought to have the option to do this all the more proficiently as the module closes. Euro Monitor International, (2017), Apparel and Footwear in the United Arab Emirates, Country Report. Anaylsis of Desirees Baby by Kate Chopin Essay - 881 Words

Robin Faulkner ENG 201-715 March 29, 2012 Prof. J. Wynter â€Å"Desiree’s Baby† In Desiree’s Baby, Kate Chopin shows how over valuing of white race and status can destroy a relationship and a family. Race and status are intangible ideas humans make up to segregate one another and should not be valued higher than a human life, but this is not the case in Desiree’s Baby.† Destructive behavior begins when the child is three months old; rumors of the baby’s race spark Armand’s imperious exacting nature. He notices the baby appears to be of mixed race. At first he deals with the issue by avoiding the baby and Desiree. Then one day as Desiree was watching over her child, she looked at the child, comparing his skin color to that of the†¦show more content†¦Unfortunately, Armand’s over value of race rubs off onto Desiree. Not knowing her true race, Desiree cannot live with the dissatisfaction of herself, her husband’s disgrace, nor that fact that he does not love her or the baby anymore. She cannot awake from the nightmare that her life has turned into. She takes the baby and wanders out into a deserted field where she and the baby perish. Thus Armand is to blame for destroying his family because of his obsession with status and the white race. With Desiree and the baby gone, Armand decides he must destroy the rest of their belongings. He tells the slaves to burn anything that belonged to Desiree and the baby. The last thing to go was letters that Desiree had written to Armand before their marriage. While gathering those letters, Armand discovers a letter his mother wrote to his father. It read, â€Å"I thank god for having so arranged our lives that our dear Armand will never know that his mother, who adores him, belongs to the race this is cursed with the brand of slavery† (244). Armand’s parents knew what they were doing to the family name, but they did not care because they truly loved one another, so much so that they kept Armand’s race a secret as to keep up the family’s reputation. But Armand could not do the same for his own family because he valued his status and white race so highly. After

Socrates has a great internal struggle which he discusses with Crito in the Crito, he has been put in jail because had been found guilty of impiety and corrupting the minds of the citys youth with great thought and the courage to question basic things in life. Crito and Socrates go through many different reasons why it would be justifiable for Socrates to escape from jail, and Socrates explains each one breaking down why it would be unlawful for him to do so, not only in the eyes of the law but also for him personally in his conscience. Socrates believes that if he were to escape from jail, it would deter him from living a moral life, and he would not be living the life that he had taught his students, for he would be going against the†¦show more content†¦Each thing in the city relies on the welling running of each part for if one does not feel safe then cannot complete things fully to the best extent. This harm that could be caused to other people in the city, would also b e causing harm to Socrates own conscience also because harming others is unjust, and causing an injustice causes harm to his soul also. For Socrates it is better to die in harmony than with a tainted soul, he would rather live in peace with all of nature than have a small corruption of his soul and live a full life. He concludes that he will stay in jail to accept the death penalty, rather than escape and live the rest of his life on the run. Lastly Socrates combats the situation of the agreements that he has made with the city of Athens and how breaking them would be unjust. He explains that if he were to escape from jail, he would be breaking and agreement that he has made with the state, this being that he is a law abiding citizen of Athens, and in being a good citizen he has promised to follow all the laws, just or not. Breaking an agreement is wrong, and wrong things are unjust actions and doing unjust actions harm the soul. Matthew Stevenson free essay sample

Matthew Stevenson acknowledges several authors and battles, which serve to parallel his own points and strengthen his arguments. He references the author of The Thin Red Line, James Jones, who wrote a war account that â€Å"got it right† (367). His army experience before and during the war strongly influenced his writing, while his wartime injury significantly impacted his â€Å"pessimistic† (368) style. Stevenson alludes to his work because of its â€Å"clinical, pinpoint accuracy† (367), recounting the fear, brutality, courage, and cowardice characteristic of the war. Essentially, he is included because, â€Å"†¦the voice I hear in Jones is one that, at times, I can recognize in my father’s accounts of the war† (368). Stevenson’s father is the primary basis for his interest in Guadalcanal, so naturally, a writer that reflects his father’s perspective on the war would be of interest to him. Also mentioned is Richard Holmes, a member of the Department of War Studies at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and the author of Acts of War, which â€Å"describes the sociology of battle† (368). We will write a custom essay sample on Matthew Stevenson or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It provides a historically accurate portrayal of experiences during war, such as what happens during artillery fire, the results of alcohol and combat, and the effects of being wounded. He introduces an element of honor by writing that â€Å"men fight, not out of hatred of the enemy, but to maintain the respect of their peers† (368), and that â€Å"the death of a friend is often what ignites an atrocity† (368), both serving to add a humanistic element to the war and somewhat uphold an admirable image of the war. In an alternately negative light, Stevenson writes about Richard Tregaskis, the American journalist and author whose best-known work, Guadalcanal Diary, is labeled as one of the â€Å"bad books† written about the period. Stevenson claims that his â€Å"shortcoming was that, as a reporter, he was free to leave the island at any time† but others â€Å"had to stick around until they were killed, wounded, taken prisoner, or relieved† (368). This displays the great divide between the observers and participants of the war, a distinction that Stevenson attempts to cast into sharp relief. Stevenson incorporates the mention of battles to better identify the nature of Guadalcanal. He specifically refers to the Battle of the Tenaru, or Battle of the Ilu River, which was the first major Japanese land offensive during the Guadalcanal campaign. During the battle, the U. S. successfully repulsed a Japanese assault, and spawned Stevenson’s interest â€Å"because that is where Americans first defeated Japanese infantry and where my father led a bayonet charge into enemy lines† (364). It offers an example of a predominantly face-to-face battle, with both sides in the â€Å"swirling gun smoke, lunging, stabbing, and smashing with bayonets and rifle butts† (364). Stevenson’s father was faced with a hand grenade, in this battle, resulting in the brutally personal killing of the Japanese soldier. The death count of this battle was about nine hundred men, and he likens an image showing the â€Å"rows of dead Japanese soldiers pressed into the sand† (364) to one from the battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg was the battle with the largest amount of casualties in the American civil war, often seen as the war’s turning point, much like Guadalcanal and its pivotal successes over the Japanese. Stevenson also recalls the â€Å"stories†¦told about the Normandy beaches† (357), referencing D-Day, the allied invasion of Normandy, involving a complicated plan of both land troops and an airborne divisions, resulting in horrendous casualties. Stevenson’s describes it and others as â€Å"war stories [that] were vivid scenes in the tableau that explained not just something about my father, but what it was to fight in a war† (357). It presents a personal and sociological interest that reinforces Stevenson’s motivation.

A Quantum Computer... a future technology Essays - Quantum Computing

A Quantum Computer... a future technology Essays - Quantum Computing A Quantum Computer... a future technology Mike Damewood By the strange laws of quantum mechanics, Folger, a senior editor at Discover, notes, an electron, proton, or other subatomic particle is "in more than one place at a time," because individual particles behave like waves, these different places are different states that an atom can exist in simultaneously. Ten years ago, Folger writes, David Deutsch, a physicist at Oxford University, argued that it may be possible to build an extremely powerful computer based on this peculiar reality. In 1994, Peter Shor, a mathematician at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, proved that, in theory at least, a full-blown quantum computer could factor even the largest numbers in secondsan accomplishment impossible for even the fastest conventional computer. An outbreak of theories and discussions of the possiblity of buildig a quantum computer now permeates itself thoughtout the quantum fields of technology and research. It's roots can be traced back to 1981, when Richard Feynman noted that physicists always seem to run into computational problems when they try to simulate a system in which quantum mechanics would take place. The caluclations involving the behavior of atoms, electrons, or photons, require an immense amount of time on today's computers. In 1985 in Oxford England the first description of how a quantum computer might work surfaced with David Deutsch's theories. The new device would not only be able to surpass today's computers in speed, but also could perform some logical operations that conventional ones couldn't. This reasearch began looking into actually constructing a device and with the go ahead and additional funding of ATPeter Shor made the discovery that quantum computation can greatly speed factoring of whole numbers. It's more than just a step in micro-computing technology, it could offer insights into real world applications such as cryptography. "There is a hope at the end of the tunnel that quantum computers may one day become a reality," says Gilles Brassard of University of Montreal. Quantum Mechanics give an unexpected clarity in the description of the behavior of atoms, electrons, and photons on the microscopic levels. Although this information isn't applicable in everday household uses it does certainly apply to every interaction of matter that we can see, the real benefits of this knowledge are just beginning to show themselves. In our computers, circut boards are designed so that a 1 or a 0 is represented by differering amounts of electriciy, the outcome of one possiblity has no effect on the other. However, a problem arises when quantum theories are introduced, the outcomes come from a single piece of hardware existing in two seperate realities and these realites overlap one another affecting both outcomes at once. These problems can become one of the greatest strengths of the new computer however, if it is possible to program the outcomes in such a way so that undesirable effects cancel themselves out while the positive ones reinforce each other. This quantum system must be able to program the equation into it, verify it's computation, and extract the results. Several possible systems have been looked at by researchers, one of which involves using electrons, atoms, or ions trapped inside of magnetic fields, intersecting lasers would then be used to excite the confined particles to the right wavelength and a second time to restore the particles to their ground state. A sequence of pulses could be used to array the particles into a pattern usuable in our system of equations. Another possibility by Seth Lloyd of MIT proposed using organic-metallic polymers (one dimensional molecules made of repeating atoms). The energy states of a given atom would be determined by it's interation with neighboring atoms in the chain. Laser pulses could be used to send signals down the polymer chain and the two ends would create two unique energy states. A third proposal was to replace the organic molecules with crystals in which information would be stored in the crystals in specific frequencies that could be processed with addtional pulses. The atomic nuclei, spining in either of two states (clockwise or counterclockwise) could be programmed with a tip of a atomic microscope, either "reading" it's

Using graphic organizers for learning and teaching purposes Essay

Using graphic organizers for learning and teaching purposes - Essay Example Students having learning difficulties face the learning problems; in order to promote meaningful learning and understanding, the use of graphic organizers has been developed in the recent educational history. In the subsequent parts of this essay, first thesis statement is mentioned and it is followed by three evaluation arguments with each having its own proof and supporting material. Thesis statement Graphic organizers not only facilitate learning to the students with the learning disabilities but also greatly help teachers in the process of teaching. Point one Many students face the challenges of learning disabilities. Due to learning disabilities, they are required to put more additional amount of effort and energy in order to comprehend in classes, particularly when reading expository text (DiCecco & Gleason, 2002). Additionally, some books such as content books are written in such a way that the necessary relationships and connections are not explicitly made clear (Armbruster & Anderson 1988; Beck, McKeeown, Hamilton, & Kucan, 1998). Making comprehension relationships has not been an easy way towards learning. A considerable number of students greatly become unable to comprehend the basic meaning and its different parts of understanding in the required way; for many students, just reading is not enough to comprehend the aggregate meaning and purpose of a given text. The most significant issues causing this problem may be generated internally and externally as well. Internally, some students do not have the required mental capacity to comprehend the context and meaning of a particular text; second, for some students having comprehension mental ability is not sufficient to ensure the attaining of reading and understanding skills. They lack the proper way to read a expository text in the required way; this means the absence of learning skills and tools cause them to lag behind in comparison with those students who know and use reading and learning skills. Ex ternally, some students face the problems of complex and ambiguous written material. In many academic books, the language used to teach students a particular topic is so roughly written that many students hardly understand the connections and relationships with the words and context and between the words and meaning of text. This situation further challenges the students and makes them hard to comprehend the expository text and other complex written material. Proof DiCecco & Gleason (2002) carries out research work using graphic organizers to attain relational knowledge from expository text. In which, the majority results suggest that the students using graphic organizers have performed better and this use of methodology help students with learning disabilities to recall of relational knowledge. Point two In addition, students with learning disabilities are not active learners rather they tend to be passive learners; and at the same time, they lack the necessary skills such as organ izing and processing written and oral information (Bos & Vaughn, 1994). Some are God-gifted but others are not. Organizing and processing oral and written information challenges more to those students who are not God-gifted in processing and understanding information; this problem not only severely affects the academic performance of the students but also severely damages their personality . Proof DiCecco & Gleason (2002) also highlight this sight of the story in their research work. They signify that students who suffer from learning disabilities and at the same time they do not make efforts to improve their learning skills, such students do not perform better than students having developed their learning skills with the use of graphic organizers. For instance, in the same research, they maintain that students with

Fed Acts to Fix Jobs Market Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Fed Acts to Fix Jobs Market - Article Example Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, this move would urge the people to spend more in buying commodities, investments and exports. The Federal Reserve has given its commitment to this program until the job market scenario in the US improves. This move has resulted in heavy investments in the stock market, gold and other such assets and the Dow Jones average for industries reached a new high after a similar rise in 2007. However, this announcement has resulted in a price hike for basic commodities such as oil that has created unease among the people who fear an impending rise in basic essentials. Though the present program is considerably less compared to the $1.25 trillion and $600 billion bond-buying programs which were launched in 2009 and 2010 respectively, the Federal Reserve has further announced that the current program could be extended to buy agency-mortgage securities and other assets if no major improvement is seen in the job market. Though this move has been criticized as being less aggressive by academics and economists, the central bank chairman has argued that the Federal Reserve is doing its best to stimulate the economy and also the present program could be further extended if and when required. The Federal Reserve has mainly aimed its program on those who have been out of employment and are in need of economic security until they find employment. In his address to the media, Mr. Bernanke noted that the longer people are out of work the harder it is to find another job as their work experience is at stake. The central bank has also announced that it would co ntinue its Operation Twist program through which it would buy treasury bonds amounting to $45 billion every month which will be used to fund the mortgage purchases. And if the economic situation does not improve significantly it has proposed to purchase treasury bonds through money printing in addition to purchasing mortgages. In addition it also plans to keep short-term

Code of Conduct Essay Example for Free

Code of Conduct Essay As a consultant for the merger between UWEAR and PALEDENIM, I have gathered much information pertaining the creating and implementation of a code of conduct. There are many different ways this code of conduct can be implemented and delivered. While understanding that each company will have different preferences as to how to implement the code, I will submit an outline of what I believe is the best and most efficient way to deliver the code of conduct for both companies equally. A code of conduct will create a framework or visual of how employees and clients will view the company as a whole. â€Å"The existence of the codes seem to frame how the companies and their activities are understood.† (Frostenson, Helin, Sandstrà ¶m, 2012, p. 269) The code of conduct for UWEAR and PALEDENIM will include four main components: Our Code and Responsibility, Violations and Consequences, Law Compliances and Regulatory Orders, and Policies and Procedures. Our Code and Responsibilities This would be the first section of the code of conduct. It should include the overview of the code, the responsibilities the code provides to the company, and those persons who must abide by the code. The responsibilities of the code are to serve as a guide to help employees, officers, and board members in making informed and ethical decisions. All persons including third parties, business partners, and contractors must know and understand the code and act in a way that is consistent with the code. Violations and Consequences Violations and consequences will be listed in this section, but will not be limited to the written communications here. Employees will be encouraged to know and understand each violation listed and its consequences. They will also be expected to report any observed accounts of unethical behavior. Consequences would include but wouldn’t be limited to separation of employment. Law Compliances and Regulatory Orders The information listed here would be mostly useful to management and executive level officers. However, employees must maintain knowledge and  understanding of this section in order to remain compliant at the door level. All federal regulations will be stated in this portion of the code of conduct. For example, the policy created to implement the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) to monitor internal auditing policies would be stated in this section. Here is where the human resources department will verify the company’s compliances with federal regulatory acts such as the Sarbanes- Oxley Act. Policies and Procedures The policies and procedures section will include all policies that employees, managers, and board members must follow. There will be sections to separate the policies that apply to each individual level. Although board members and managers are ranked higher than door level employees, they must still abide by the policies and procedures of the lower level employees. For example, the No Gift policy as stated in previous works, will be listed under a section for door level employees but must still be followed by all employees of the company. This will guarantee a fair level of work and maintain employee moral as far as ethics and behaviors are concerned. Consistency across the board for all employees and work levels, is the goal in stating the policies and procedures. Non-compliance to policies and procedures will be stated in the violations and consequences section. After the code of conduct is fully compiled and voted on by the ethics board, it must be delivered. Although having a creative way to present the code of conduct to the company, it is more important to understand the client and their expectations. Preparation as a speaker would be my main focus in delivering the code. â€Å"As much as technology has advanced and improved the quality of audiovisuals aids in presentations, it is important to review the basics of being a better speaker.† (Lucente-Cole, 2004, p. 42) Preparing myself to deliver the code of conduct in a way that generates feedback from the audience, will allow me to verify understanding and knowledge of the code. The code would be delivered in a new employee handbook and reviewed in all new hire orientations. Each new hire would be required to sign for receipt and understanding of the communications in the code of conduct. As for existing employees, they will review and sign for receipt during the next quarterly mee ting. There are other additional policies that haven’t been listed or discussed but should definitely be included. One of the most common policies that hasn’t been established is attendance. The attendance policy would be carried out or listed in different stages. For example, if an employee is tardy, there would be a verbal counseling to address stage one of the tardy policy in attendance. If that employee is tardy again, they will be disciplined according to stage two of the attendance policy. Disciplinary actions can be reduced or removed from an employees record after that employee exemplifies compliance with the policy for six months. Last but certainly not least, UWEAR and PALEDENIM should have a policy addressing sexual harassment. Sexual harassment occurs very often in the workplace. UWEAR and PALEDENIM must state explicitly, the expectations and consequences of sexual harassment. â€Å"Harassment does not have to be of a sexual nature, however, and can include offensive remarks about a person’s sex. For example, it is illegal to harass a woman by making offensive comments about women in general.† (Sexual Harassment, n.d., para. 2) They, UWEAR and PALEDENIM, must make sure each employee understands what could be considered as sexual harassment in order to maintain compliance to this policy. Due to the fact that major lawsuits can be created from an occurrence of sexual harassment, this policy will be listed under Law Regulations and it must be strongly enforced. The Signigicance of the Scaffold Scenes in the Scarlet Letter Essay

The Signigicance of the Scaffold Scenes in the Scarlet Letter The three scaffold scenes bring great significance to the plot of the Scarlet Letter. The novel is based on repenting the sins of adultery. The scaffold represents a place of shame and pity but also of final triumphs. Each scene illustrates the importance of the scaffold behind them with many potent similarities and differences. In the first scaffold scene Hester Prynne is depicted standing alone while clutching her baby. She has been sentenced to the scaffold for three hours to face public condemnation. In the Puritan society, where this novel is set, public shame is a source of entertainment. On this occasion the townspeople are present to watch the judgment of Hester. As the townspeople are ridiculing her, the narrator is praising Hester for her untamed but lady like beauty (60-61). The narrator goes so far as to compare her to â€Å"Divine Maternity† or Mother Mary, the ideal woman, the woman that is looked highly upon by the whole Puritan society (63). However, the conditions are set up to show the change in Hester due to isolation and discredit of the Puritan society. Throughout this scene the Puritans are condemning Hester for her sin as the narrator is condemning the Puritans for their severity. Many years later, in desperation for a remedy to cure his tortured soul, the Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale takes to the scaffold where Hester had once suffered her shame. He is envious of the public nature of her ...

Real Beauty Sketches Essay

In April 2013, Dove launched a â€Å"Real Beauty† campaign after performing marketing research and discovering that only 2% of all women consider themselves to be â€Å"beautiful†. In an effort to boost self-esteem and moral, Dove introduced a television ad in the form, which incorporated a powerful and touching social experiment. In this commercial, several different women are asked to describe their physical appearance to a forensic sketch artist, who cannot see them as he sketches their physical descriptions. They are told to use neutral terms, and to â€Å"stick to the facts† when describing their own self-reflections. Next, the same women are described to the same forensic sketch artist by a complete stranger, whom they had only met the day before. The strangers are given the same instructions. At the end of this unknown experiment, both descriptions are drawn by the artist and then compared. Upon comparison, it is incredibly obvious that the stranger’s physical descriptions of the subject are more flattering, and more accurate depict the subject’s true appearance. The commercial sends a very inspiring, real message to the women: to be less critical of yourself, and to embrace the natural beauty of womanhood. After the experiment took place, one woman admitted, â€Å"I should be more grateful of my natural beauty. It impacts the choices and the friends we make; the jobs we apply for; how we treat our children; it impacts everything. It couldn’t be more critical to your happiness. † To the same point, another woman added, â€Å"we spend a lot of time as women analyzing and trying to fix the things that aren’t quite right, and we should spend more time appreciating the things that we do like. † The commercial ends with a powerful and honest message: â€Å"You are more beautiful than you think. † The â€Å"Real Beauty Sketches† ad resulted in widespread reactions worldwide- some positive, some negative. Many praised the commercial for its ability to acknowledge and accept natural beauty and what society may traditional deem as physical â€Å"flaws†. But there were many negative critics as well. Despite the good nature behind the commercial’s intent, many criticized the ad for its heavy emphasis on physical appearance. Critics claimed that Dove’s advertisement still focused too heavily on the physical appearance of woman, and its remaining influence as the single-most defining element of a woman’s worth; as opposed to her personality or personal achievements. Which led me to question: How could this advertisement be improved to focus on the â€Å"true beauty† and essence of a woman’s worth? The message is a refreshing change from the typical message that beauty supply companies often send; instead of shaming women into purchasing things to make them more â€Å"beautiful†, Dove takes a non-traditional approach by supporting the natural beauty, without the enhancement of material products. Although this may seem to counter-act their ultimate goal of selling beauty products, Dove gains seeks to gain more than just revenue- they seek to gain self-confidence and acceptance. But in order to overcome the heavy emphasis of a woman’s physical appearance as the defining element of a woman’s worth, I think it is important to emphasis how the woman achieved her â€Å"beauty lines†, wrinkles, or â€Å"flaws†. Perhaps pulling on the viewer’s emotional heartstring of laughter and love would prove to play a beautiful part in the development of a woman’s wrinkles around her eyes, or expression lines in her forehead. By approaching the beauty from this marketing angle, marketers are focusing on the internal beauty that a woman envelopes, and justifies their natural beauty with self-worth and personal accomplishment. By casting very â€Å"average† and â€Å"typical† looking women, marketers sought to appeal to the majority of women, in an effort to reflect a more realistic depiction of women. By refraining from using â€Å"traditionally† beautiful women, viewers and women find the message to be more relatable to themselves. Marketing Applications: In April 2013, Dove marketers applied a story-like short film to their Real Beauty campaign, in an effort to reveal each woman’s true natural beauty. Marketing Relevance: Marketing emphasis: to encourage the improvement of self-image and confidence among women worldwide. Dove marketers sought to prove that â€Å"we† are our own worst critics, and that our own self-image is often skewed and far less beautiful than our true natural beauty suggests. Intangible elements: Dove focused on producing a moral campaign that reflects the ideals and beliefs of their corporate personnel. In this powerful, thought-provoking message, Dove effectively used an emotional story to â€Å"make a culturally positive difference†. Marketers drew upon an emotional appeal in an attempt to attach these positive ideas to their own product line. In doing so, Dove successfully attached an extension of their own feelings to their product, as well as their corporate image. Many accredit the campaign’s success to its ability tap into deep-seated emotions and â€Å"hit on a real human truth for women. Many women undervalue themselves and also the way they look. † In this ad, Dove focused on the emotional appeal, rather than simply â€Å"communicating a particular product or service benefit. † As a result, consumers will be more likely to remember the positive emotions that the advertisement evoked, and thus, â€Å"associate them with Dove products. † Discussion Questions:

How to Make and Use Homemade Ant Bait Traps

To get rid of ants for good, you need to use a treatment that kills the entire colony, including the queen back in the nest. Dont waste your time squishing the ants on your counters because as long as the colony is actively nesting nearby, more ants will appear. Ant baits, whether homemade or commercial, are the treatment of choice for eliminating kitchen infestations. Ant-killing bait combines a desirable ant food with a pesticide. Worker ants carry the food back to the nest, where the pesticide works on the entire colony. You can make an effective ant killer using boric acid, a low toxicity pesticide available in hardware stores and pharmacies. Identify the Ants Before you make and use homemade ant bait, youll need to confirm which type of ants you have. Ants that youd find in your kitchen usually fall into one of two groups: sugar ants or grease ants.   From an entomological perspective, theres really no such thing as sugar ants. People use the term sugar ants to describe any number of ants that happen to like sweets. Depending on where you live, your sugar ants may actually be Argentine ants, odorous house ants, pavement ants, or some other kind of ants. Grease ants, also referred to as protein-loving ants, prefer proteins or fats over sugars. This doesnt mean they wont eat sweets, but theyre more interested in food with some protein content in it. Grease ants include little black ants, big-headed ants, and pavement ants, among others. To determine which kind of ants you have, do a taste test. Put a teaspoon of jelly and a teaspoon of peanut butter  in the area where you see the most ant traffic. Tape down a piece of waxed paper, or use a paper plate, and apply the bait on the paper or plate to avoid smearing jelly or peanut butter onto your counters or floor. Next, determine which type of baits the ants prefer. If they went for jelly, make a sugar ant bait. Ants that prefer peanut butter will respond to a protein-based bait. Now youre ready to make your homemade ant bait. Ingredients: Break Out the Borax Whether you have sugar or grease ants, boric acid is an effective, minimally toxic pesticide that you can use to create effective ant-killing bate. Both boric acid and sodium borate salts are derived from the element boron, which occurs naturally in soil, water, and rocks. Boric acid is a low-toxicity pesticide, but that does not mean its nontoxic. Virtually any substance can be harmful or fatal if used improperly. Read the label carefully, and follow any directions or cautionary information on the boric acid package. You can purchase boric acid at your local pharmacy or hardware store. Its commonly used as an antiseptic or mixed with water for use as an eyewash. To create a homemade ant killer, youll need to purchase borax in a powder or granule form. How to Make Homemade Ant Killer Use either of the following methods, depending on what kind of ants you have: Sugar ant bait recipe:  Mix 2 tablespoons of mint jelly with about  ¼ teaspoon of boric acid powder. Research suggests that mint jelly is the best sugar ant lure, but you can also try another jelly flavor if you dont have mint jelly in your fridge. Grease ant bait recipe:  Mix 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of honey, and about  ½ teaspoon of boric acid powder. Protein-loving ants respond best to a bait made of both protein and sugar. Use and Application Place your ant bait in an area where you see ants the most. You want the bait to be somewhere along their regular travel path. Use masking tape to secure a square of waxed paper or cardboard, and place the ant-killing mixture on it. If you chose a good location and prepared the right kind of bait, youll probably find ants swarming around the bait within a few hours. If you dont, try moving the bait to a different location. How It Works Boric acid works primarily as a stomach toxin on ants. The worker ants will carry the bait food, loaded with boric acid, back to the nest. There, the ants in the colony will ingest it and die. The boric acid seems to interfere with the ants metabolism, although scientists arent exactly sure how it does so. Sodium borate salts affect an insects exoskeleton, causing the insect to desiccate. Tips and Warnings Keep children and pets away from the ant bait mixture. Although boric acid has low toxicity, you dont want your dog or cat licking up the bait, nor should you allow children to come in contact with it. Store the boric acid and any extra bait mixture where children and pets cannot access it. You will need to replace the bait regularly with a fresh batch, as the ants wont be interested in jelly or peanut butter once it dries up. Continue putting out bait until you no longer see ants.
